Do you want to know God more, but struggle with your prayer life? Me, too! I really want a close relationship with Christ that only comes from spending time with Him; yet, I am too often either rushed or distracted. Sometimes I repeat the same phrases, or catch myself saying the same thing again in the same prayer. One thing I’ve found helpful is praying the Scriptures. When I pray directly from God’s Word, I know I am praying according to His will. I pray to know God more using or adapting the words of the inspired Bible writers.

Praying the Scriptures is not a new thing, but Beth Moore’s release of her book Praying God’s Word, brought more modern attention to this practical spiritual discipline.

Is your heart’s desire to know God more? Then try praying these Scriptures as you talk to your Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus today! Some you can pray exactly as written. Others you will want to personalize with “I” and “me” in several places.

Scriptures for Praying to Know God More

“When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O LORD, I shall seek.” Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27:8-9‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.
